The trademark of the silver arrow is often referred to as the “Supreme Arrow” and several of the company’s glasses feature this symbol.

Formed in 1917 by Giuseppe Ratti, Persol originally catered to pilots and sports drivers. Presently, the company is famous for its durable sports sunglasses.

The name is derived from the Italian per il sole, meaning “for the sun”.

Currently all  Persol spectacles are made in Italy using cellulose acetate, a hypoallergenic material derived from cotton.

The lenses for the sunglasses manufactured by Persol use a crystal lens to filter harmful light from the wearer’s eye.

THE PERSOL ICON

Introduced in the 1960s as a folding version of the 649 model, the 714 were the first-ever folding glasses.

This model requires ten additional manufacturing steps compared to the standard ones.

714 glasses owe their fame to Steve McQueen™, who wore them in the film The Thomas Crown Affair.
