Got glasses? Bobbi Brown’s 5 tips for optical beauty.
Think guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses? Don’t tell that to Bobbi Brown.
The makeup maven and best-selling author recently released her eighth beauty book, “Everything Eyes,” and devotes a section, called “Hey, Four-Eyes,” solely to specs.
To coincide with the book, the often-bespectacled Brown has entered the eyeglasses game herself, partnering with Safilo Group, a premium eyewear producer and distributor, to create her own line of glasses, sunglasses and readers — a first for a makeup artist.
“I believe that makeup is a way for women to feel and look like themselves, only prettier and more confident,” Brown said in a news release. “As a makeup artist, I have looked at women’s faces for over 20 years and believe that my beauty expertise will translate naturally into eyewear, identifying the best silhouettes and colors for a woman’s face shape, skin tone, and lifestyle. This is a new, innovative approach to interpreting eyewear.”
Famous for her own signature black specs, in “Everything Eyes,” Brown, who used “real” women to model the frames in the campaign, shows how to choose the right frames based on face shape, skin tone and personal style.
“It pretty much takes the guesswork out of finding your perfect pair of frames,” She says..
Of course, makeup comes into play, too. Bobbie Brown shares her beauty tips for women who wear glasses (and, contacts, we’re putting you on notice):
- Applying eyeliner is key if you wear glasses to add definition behind your lenses.
- Brows are a key feature for glasses-wearers. Define your brows with an eye shadow that matches your hair color — this ensures that your glasses don’t overpower your face.
- Curling your lashes and applying mascara on top will open up the eye, making them appear larger — just be sure to wear waterproof mascara so it doesn’t smudge onto your lenses.
- For bolder frames, go for bolder makeup, and vice-versa — if your frames are delicate, choose softer shadow and liner colors.
- For a quick weekend look, apply a bold lip, and just put corrector and concealer on under your eyes, swipe on mascara and then go.
