Coronavirus COVID-19

To make patients aware of our current covid 19 status.

As you will be aware the COVID-19 virus, labelled a pandemic by the World Health Organisation, has been elevated by the Irish Government to a higher state of alert over the last few days.

At Macroom Opticians we are mindful of this and we are taking all reasonable steps in order to ensure the continuing wellbeing of our employees and our patients/customers while continuing to provide our services where possible.

We are implementing a few changes to make it safer for everyone at the practice.

  • We will be reducing our opening hours from 9.30am to 2.00 pm
  • We are only taking appointments for essential and not routine eye examinations at this time
  • Patients with sore eyes and those who experience symptoms such as flashes and floaters etc. should contact us prior to attending.
  • Collections of spectacles, contact lenses and repairs can attend the practice.
  • We ask our customers to respect the 2m distance guideline.
  • Essential eye examinations will have to be reduced to a 15 minute appointment to stick within HSE guidelines and so 2 or more 15 minute appointments may be required as per the optometrists discretion.
  • Patients under the age of 16 for should refrain from attending the practice unless clinically necessary. Parents should contact us first.
  • We will be happy to facilitate a postal service to you to avoid you coming into the practice.
  • We have improved cleanliness and safeguarding procedures for employees and visitors to our practice.

As a result of these and other measures we feel confident that we can continue to operate in a reduced capacity and continue to deliver our usual high level of service at our practice.

We do take our commitment to our loyal customers and patients very seriously, so in the event of any escalation we will be sure to communicate appropriately at that time.

Patients should contact us by email at frontdesk@macroomopticians or phone and leave a voicemail on 026-43123 with their queries for out of our operational hours.

We hope that all our customers and colleagues, families and friends, remain well and safe. We hope the situation we are experiencing stabilises over the coming period.
